Description
The Texas Instruments TCA8418RTWR is a highly integrated keypad scanner with a matrix GPIO. It is designed to interface with a microcontroller via I2C or SMBus communication protocol. This device is suitable for keyboards, security systems, and portable devices that require a keyboard interface. The TCA8418RTWR can scan up to 64 keys organized in an eight-row by eight-column matrix. It has a built-in programmable key debounce and auto-repeat feature. This device also has configurable I2C address and interrupt pin.
The TCA8418RTWR has several features that make it an ideal device to interface with a keyboard. Its built-in programmable key debounce feature debounces the keys for accurate input. The auto-repeat feature allows users to hold down a key for repeated input. Furthermore, this device has an active-low interrupt pin for notifying the microcontroller of any keypad activity. The TCA8418RTWR operates through an I2C interface, which reduces the number of I/O pins required for communication. Finally, the TCA8418RTWR can operate in a power-down mode where it consumes very low power when not in use, making it suitable for battery-powered devices
