Description
The Texas Instruments CD74HC4051E is a high-speed CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) analog/digital multiplexer (MUX) device that is designed for use in most applications where low power consumption and high noise immunity are essential. With the feature of non-volatile memory storage for the control logic, this device requires no external components to control the analog switches. The device also features a wide operating voltage range from 2V to 10V, which makes it able to operate with many systems.
The CD74HC4051E contains six separate and independent analog MUXes, each containing 16 single-pole, single-throw (SPST) switches. Each switch can be addressed independently through the control pins, which allows multiple input signals to be connected to a single output. The device's capability of working with a wide voltage range makes it an excellent tool in portable battery-powered instruments, and, with its characteristic of low power consumption, it is ideal for use in applications where minimum power consumption is desired. Its typical applications include signal gating, switching, frequency filtering, modulators, demodulators, and signal processing circuits
