Description
The Texas Instruments SN74AHC245DWR is a type of octal bus transceiver with 3-state outputs. It is designed for 2-way communication between buses that operate between voltage levels of 2 V and 5.5 V. Its signal translation feature also makes it useful when interfacing between mixed-voltage systems. The device has a high output drive current of up to ±24 mA to enable it to drive heavy loads such as capacitive loads. Additionally, it has a low input current of less than 1 µA to minimize power consumption.
The transceiver includes a built-in direction-control pin (DIR) that enables bi-directional communication. The DIR input allows data transmission from the bus to the A port or from B port to the bus, depending on the logic level applied. This allows efficient data transfer without requiring any external direction control. The device can handle up to 8 independent bidirectional lines making it convenient for data transfer between multiple devices. The SN74AHC245DWR also features protection diodes to prevent excessive voltage or current levels from damaging the device
