Description
The NXP PCAL9535APW,118 is a 16-bit general purpose input/output expander with an I2C-bus interface. It provides an easy and efficient solution for extending the number of input/output lines available in microcontroller-based systems. The device has 16 input/output pins that can be configured to operate as either inputs or outputs on a bit-by-bit basis. The input pins can be configured with interrupt capability to notify the microcontroller when an input changes state. The output pins can be configured to drive LEDs, relays, or other devices.
The PCAL9535APW,118 also features a programmable polarity inversion register that allows the logic levels of the input pins to be inverted. This is useful in applications where the microcontroller requires active-low input signals. The device operates from a single 2.3V to 5.5V power supply and provides 5V tolerant inputs and outputs, making it compatible with a wide range of microcontroller systems.
