Description
Fairchild MOC3020 is a type of Optoisolator, which is a device that separates two circuits electrically while allowing signals to pass between them. The MOC3020 consists of an infrared emitting diode, a phototransistor, and a photodiode. The infrared emitting diode emits light, which is directed onto the phototransistor and photodiode. The light causes the phototransistor to conduct, which, in turn, passes current across the isolator. The photodiode monitors the light level and is used to provide feedback to the control circuit.
