Description
The ON Semiconductor FOD852SD is a high-speed photocoupler designed to specifically address safety related switching applications. It features an integrated GaAlAs infrared emitting diode and a photodetector equipped with a pin diode and a high-speed amplifier. The device is housed in a small SO-6 package and its design meets IEC/EN/DIN EN60747-5-5 and UL1577 safety standards.
This photocoupler is ideal for applications that require high switching speeds and high isolation voltages. It can operate at a maximum data transfer rate of 15Mbps, making it suitable for use in industrial automation, motor controls, AC and Brushless DC motor drives, and other challenging applications. The FOD852SD provides sufficient insulation voltage of 5000Vrms for one minute, providing enhanced safety in high voltage environments. The device is also equipped with fault detection features, such as an open collector output which provides feedback in case of input failure, and an external load resistor that limits the output current to protect the output transistor
