Description
The Fairchild MOC3022 is a small AC input phototransistor optocoupler that is used for switching power systems, solid-state relays, and motor control applications. This device provides high isolation and low coupling capacitance, which makes it ideal for controlling high voltage and current devices. The MOC3022 consists of an infrared light emitting diode (LED) that is optically coupled to a phototransistor, and both are housed in a miniature 6-pin DIP package.
The input LED in the MOC3022 activates the phototransistor when it receives a pulse of light, which in turn triggers the output circuitry. Additionally, this optocoupler contains zero-crossing detection to help minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI) and reduce power consumption. The MOC3022 has an isolation voltage of 7500Vrms, can handle a maximum continuous output current of 100mA, and can operate over a wide temperature range of -40°C to 100°C.
