Description
Texas Instruments 430BOOST-TMP006 is a booster pack which is designed to be used with the MSP430 Launchpad development kit. It integrates an infrared temperature sensor, TMP006, which is a MEMS-based digital temperature sensor. It provides an accuracy of ±1℃ and operates between -40℃ to +125℃. The booster pack has a low power consumption and easy-to-read result. The booster pack has an option to be powered either by Launchpad or external power supply. It comes with an integrated thermometer IC and 6-pin interface for connectivity.
The booster pack has an in-built amplifier, ADC, and linearization circuitry which converts temperature data into digital form. The interface between MSP430 Launchpad and booster pack is done by a 6-pin connector. The booster pack also provides a 3.3V regulator to supply power. It has a pre-set I2C address and uses the I2C serial communication protocol to communicate with the host controller. The standard temperature data format is 2-byte binary data which can be easily interpreted by using another temperature conversion formula. Overall, the Texas Instruments 430BOOST-TMP006 is an easy-to-use, low-cost, and high-performance temperature sensor booster pack for MSP430 Launchpad
