Description
The Fairchild MOC3041 is an optocoupler device that is used to isolate low voltage/control signals from high voltages/power circuits. This device integrates a phototransistor and a zero-crossing triac driver in a single package. The phototransistor senses the control signal and generates an electrical current, which in turn drives the zero-crossing triac. This results in switching the high voltage load at the next zero-crossing point, thereby avoiding the voltage transients that could otherwise occur during switching.
The MOC3041 optocoupler operates on an input voltage between 5V and 25V, and can switch loads up to a maximum of 1.2A RMS.
