Description
The Texas Instruments TPS2115APWR is a power management IC that features dual input power selectors for power distribution applications in portable devices. It has a supply voltage range of 2.3V to 6V, which makes it suitable for use with a variety of battery types. The IC can protect against reverse voltage, overvoltage, undervoltage, and overcurrent conditions. It can also support up to 2A of load current and has a low power consumption of less than 2.5uA in shutdown mode. The TPS2115APWR has an internal 170mΩ MOSFET switch that enables the selection of one of two power sources based on the input voltage level. The switch has a low rDS(on) and low leakage current, which helps to reduce power loss and improve efficiency. Its small size and low profile package make it ideal for space-constrained applications.
The TPS2115APWR also features three programmable options- the power source prioritization, fault mode, and overcurrent limit- which can be configured through the two integrated selector pins. The power source prioritization option allows the selection of either the higher voltage or the lower voltage input as the primary power source, depending on the application. The fault mode option can detect and signal if any overvoltage, under-voltage, reverse polarity, or overcurrent fault conditions occur during operations. The overcurrent limit option sets the maximum load current that the device can support and offers short circuit protection. These features make the TPS2115APWR an ideal choice for portable devices such as smartphones, tablets, and portable media players, where efficiency, reliability, and space-saving are critical factors
