Description
The Texas Instruments UC3846DWTR is a pulse width modulation (PWM) controller that supports multiple switching frequencies and duty cycles for power conversion. It operates from a single supply voltage ranging from 8V to 20V and features a maximum duty cycle of 100%, which makes it suitable for a wide range of applications such as DC-DC converters, battery chargers, and motor control circuits. This PWM controller uses fixed frequency control and is designed to drive an external MOSFET on and off to regulate the output voltage. It also has an adjustable dead-time control, which helps prevent shoot-through currents when switching.
The UC3846DWTR provides over-current protection by monitoring the MOSFET voltage drop and shutting down if the voltage drop exceeds a threshold. Additionally, it has a soft-start function that allows for a slower rise in output voltage during startup to prevent issues such as overvoltage and circuit damage. The device has an under-voltage lockout (UVLO) feature that disables the PWM outputs when the input voltage falls below a specified level. This feature helps prevent damage to the power supply and any connected loads. The UC3846DWTR operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and is offered in a 16-lead SOIC package for easy integration into different circuits
