Description
The Fairchild MOC3023 is a 6-pin DIP optoisolator designed for controlling AC loads such as motors, incandescent lamps and solenoids in a wide range of communications, industrial and consumer applications. The device consists of a gallium arsenide infrared LED coupled to a silicon bilateral switch with a high isolation voltage of 7500 Vrms. It provides complete electrical isolation between the input and output circuits to protect sensitive control circuits from the high voltages and inductive spikes generated by the load.
The MOC3023 uses optically coupled isolation to provide a safe and efficient means of controlling AC power. The device features a maximum turn-off time of 3 microseconds, enabling it to switch high-current loads with rapid response times. The MOC3023 also offers high noise immunity and excellent thermal stability, making it ideal for a wide range of applications requiring precise control of AC loads.
